Restaurant honors late Marvin Zindler
The memory of the late Marvin Zindler is alive in a new fried chicken restaurant

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The memory of the late Marvin Zindler is alive in a new fried chicken restaurant.

A small, white shack on North Main Street in Houston is just what the owners were looking for, "We wanted to make a shack looking building where you just come in, you feel comfortable," says owner Joshua Martinez.

The shack is named for the famous central Texas brothel our own Marvin Zindler exposed back in 1973. It's called the Chicken Ranch, "Part of what we wanted to do here, was kinda pay homage to him."

In the dining room there is a custom painting of Marvin with his dog, Magic. The painting has a special place on the wall. Martinez not only grew up watching Zindler right here on Channel 13, he says he knew him personally and admired him, he said, "He's a bigger than life person. he was really honestly a down to earth person."

True to it's southern roots, the Chicken Ranch makes everything from scratch, all the way down to it's hand whipped butter. Martinez is making sure he makes Marvin proud through remembering his signature line, "There better not be any slime in the ice machine."

The Chicken Ranch just opened this weekend for business.
