Ahead of the Super Bowl, wireless carriers are installing temporary cell towers to accommodate higher traffic.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you're sick of losing service on your cell phone at a huge public event, Verizon is about to come through for you in a big way.

Ahead of Super Bowl 51, the wireless provider is putting up temporary cell towers intended to boost service during large events.

A temporary tower has already been installed at Discovery Green, the epicenter of Super Bowl Live. Boosting towers are also going up at the airports, NRG Stadium and the city's larger hotels.

Verizon hopes customers will have no problems hopping on social media to share their Super Bowl experience.

"Folks like to do things like Facebook and post pictures and video, so we will be prepared for that," said Verizon spokesman Corrie Poole.

With more than a million visitors expected in Houston for the big game, the extra service capacity will surely be put to the test.
