Neighbors concerned about sound from new concert venue
North Houston residents are concerned about the implications of a new concert venue opening in their neighborhood.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston's newest concert venue is debuting this weekend in the near northside. White Oak Music Hall hosted a soft opening Thursday evening and boasts two indoor stages along with an outdoor stage on the lawn that can hold several thousand people. It promotes local and national acts and operators hope it will be the start of an economic revitalization for the area.

However, not all of the neighbors are excited about who moved into the neighborhood. Some complain the outdoor concerts mean increased noise and traffic through the area.

"It's just so loud and we didn't ask for this. We didn't choose to move into an area that had something like this. It came here and they're saying accept it and deal with it," said Theresa Cavin.

She has lived her whole life on her near northside street and says the concert noise rattles her windows and disturbs her son, who has autism and is sensitive to noise. She tries to block out the noise by wrapping a towel around his head.

Operators for White Oak Music Hall say they want to be good neighbors, too, and intend to keep an open dialog with neighbors.
