Think outside the mall and hit those off-price retailers like TJ Maxx and Ross. New inventory comes in everyday so you don't have to search through picked over items.

If you are shopping online, use coupon codes! It goes without saying but retailers will allow you to "stack" coupons on top of each other. That will help you save on expedited shipping costs you might need.

Check gift card deals, whether it's a retailer or restaurant. Many businesses are offering incentives like a free gift card with purchase or a deal where if you buy a gift card, you get another gift card for free. Use those for smaller gifts.

Finally, price match for a better deal. Walmart, Target, Lowes and Best Buy are just some of the big box stores that will accept a competitor's ad and match it.
