HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Texans wide receiver Jaelen Strong was arrested Sunday night in Arizona. Police say he was in possession of marijuana.

According to Scottsdale police, shortly before midnight, officers pulled over the driver of a black Maserati they say didn't have any visible license plates. Strong was a passenger in that vehicle.

Once stopped, officers say they noticed a strong marijuana smell coming from inside.

Police say Strong admitted being in possession of marijuana, and gave them three marijuana cigarettes.

Strong was booked into the Scottsdale city jail and later released pending charging. The other occupants of the vehicle were released at the scene.

The Texans released the following statement on Strong's arrest: "The Houston Texans are aware of the incident regarding WR Jaelen Strong in Scottsdale, Ariz. We are disappointed in the choices Jaelen made to put himself in this situation. We will have no further comment at this time."
