HOUSTON (KTRK) -- He's made Rockets fans laugh for over two decades, but the man who plays the mascot 'Clutch' says he's saying goodbye to his alter ego.

Robert Boudwin has played 'Clutch,' the bear since 1995. That's 21 years. On Friday, he announced on his Facebook page that it has been his honor. He's performed at over 1,000 games and entertained at over 6,000 shows and appearances.

And he was known for being unpredictable and sometimes mischievous.

He wrote, "I wish to thank all the amazingly passionate Rockets fans who have laughed and cheered with me over the last two decades"

It goes on to say, "I will continue to cheer with you for our favorite team, just not from inside the costume."

Boudwin also says he's looking forward to spending time with his growing family. No word yet from the Rockets on whether someone else will be playing Clutch.
