Dress for Success Houston clients strut their stuff on the catwalk
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Local women who have benefited from services offered by Dress for Success Houston strutted their stuff on the catwalk Wednesday evening.
The nonprofit held its 14th annual Models of Success event, which highlighted its recent client success stories.
Latisa Brown was one of eight women profiled.
As a single mother, Brown has been been laid off and experienced the loss of her son, but she found the strength to overcome it all.

She credits her success to the Dress for Success Program.
Brown said it's so much more than a place to get a suit -- it provides programs, education, and experiences that truly change lives.
The event honored women like Brown who have made great strides in the program.
Brown served in the military for 11 years, and earned her degree while serving in the National Guard before going to work in information technology.
But in 2011, tragedy struck.
Her son was killed in New Orleans after trying to break up an altercation. Years later, Brown was laid off.
She then turned to Dress for Success to get a new job.
Not only did the program help her, she now volunteers there to help other women.
"I had to reinvent myself when my son passed away. He gave his life helping someone else, so I volunteer in his honor," said Brown.
Dress for Success offers a variety of career services for low-income women, including professional outfitting services, job retention and career advancement coaching and professional development.
