HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Siphon Coffee, located in Montrose is a chic and cozy coffee house changing the game for java lovers in Houston.
It starts with the shop's namesake brewing method. Although the Japanese 'Siphon' machine originated over 160 years ago, nowadays there are only a handful of places in the U.S. who offer the unique brew. It takes about 10 minutes to create a siphon, via a vacuum process which pulls water through a filter, extracting oils and flavors from rich coffee beans.
"We recommend you drink it here, as a paper 'to-go' cup, tends to ruin the flavor," said Siphon Coffee manager, Carlos Meltzer.
Coffee enthusiasts can also enjoy delicious eats from a menu of breakfast pastries to a variety of paninis, soups and salads for lunch and dinner.
The interior of this cool space is designed from reclaimed wood from 200 year old barns. There are also a variety of seating options from café tables to couches and cushy chairs -- with free-Wi-Fi and plenty of plugs.
