Ducklings saved from Beltway traffic
Drivers stopped to help gather 11 ducklings and carry them to safety

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- When 11 frightened ducklings found themselves on a busy freeway on Thursday, drivers came to their rescue.

The owner of HC Investigations was driving on the road when he spotted 11 tiny ducklings weaving their way across the pavement of Beltway 8 near Highway 290 and traffic stopped for their crossing. Unfortunately, the mother duck was struck by a vehicle and died.

The tiny orphaned ducklings wove back and forth, as drivers got out of their cars to try to help in the rescue. After a few minutes of chasing them down, caught on camera, these witnesses helped round up all 11 ducklings.

The owner of HC Investigations took the 11 ducklings to the Wildlife Center of Texas.
