Testimony continues in Spring HS stabbing trial
Luis Alfaro, 17, is accused of killing Joshua Broussard, also 17.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Spring high school student is on trial for murder, accused of fatally stabbing a classmate during a fight in the cafeteria.

On Friday, jurors heard first-hand accounts from other students.

Testimony is focusing on eyewitnesses to the fight, some of whom have called it a gang fight that ended in the murder of that student at Spring high.

Several current and former students testified that they saw 17-year-old Luis Alfaro 'talk trash' to the victim just before the attack in the school cafeteria. One said he heard Alfaro threaten to kill 17-year-old Joshua Broussard.

Another said he saw Alfaro take the first swing at Broussard and that the fight sparked a melee there.

Another student testified Broussard was getting the best of Alfaro when Alfaro allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Broussard. He demonstrated that for the jury.

Another former student, 18-year-old Daeveyon Curry testified how he saw the victim seconds after the stabbing and tried to carry his friend to help. He said, "...I saw blood and i lifted up his shirt. I seen the hole..."

He said Broussard was too wounded at that point even to speak.

Alfaro's attorney says surveillance video will exonerate his client. He also said that the Harris County Sheriff's Office detectives who worked the case rushed the investigation.

In our 11am newscast, we erroneously reported that a witness, Lexi Broussard, who testified this morning for the prosecution, was the sister of the victim who has the same last name. She is not.
