PARKER, CO (KTRK) -- New video released of a dramatic police chase shows an officer clinging to a moving car. The chase happened a year ago in Parker, Colorado. The video was released after the driver was sentenced to 38 years in prison.

A routine stop for expired license plates turned into an officer hanging on to the car for her life, KCNC reports.

It all happened when officers pulled the car over, not knowing Justin Wayne Lamb, a wanted man, was hiding in the backseat.

Driver Scott Williams was arrested, but during the stop, Officer Glenna Villers saw Lamb in the back seat and ordered him out of the car.

Lamb reportedly didn't do that and hopped into the driver's seat with Villers holding on to the vehicle, hanging on for her life at speeds up to 30 miles per hour. Lamb tried to pry her hands off the vehicle for a quarter of a mile. She survived the wild ride with injuries to her hand, eye and leg.

Law enforcement eventually caught Lamb after he drove off the road.
