Two people are dead following a car accident in west Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An early morning crash shut down part of Gessner Road and the I-10 Katy westbound feeder lane.

The accident between a silver Ford Focus and Buick Enclave left two dead, according to Houston police officers.

HPD officers told Eyewitness News they suspect alcohol played a factor in the crash. While they're still investigating the accident, they said one of the drivers ran a red light. The Focus was heading northbound on Gessner while the Buick was traveling westbound on the I-10 feeder lane, according to officers.

Officers report the female driver and male passenger in the Ford were dead when paramedics arrived on scene. They said the female driver of the Buick was taken to Southwest Memorial Hermann Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
