HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Three people who went into the water when their boat overturned in flood waters in Spring Creek were brought to safety, thanks to rescuers.

The small boat could be seen upside down in Spring Creek near Riley Fuzzel at about 4:30pm Monday. From SkyEye, we could see two people clinging to the overturned hull. Authorities say a third person was hanging on to the branches of a nearby tree.

Out for a pleasure trip, the three were dressed in shorts and tshirts when the boat overturned. Some kids nearby heard them yelling for help, and called authorities.

From the time their boat capsized to the time of rescue, the trio spent about an hour in the chilly waters. Officials with the fire department and the Precinct 3 Commissioner's Office came to their aid with an airboat.

Authorities say three adults were chilly and wet but safe after their boat overturned in Montgomery County

"When the boat goes over like that, the current will take you," said Chief Deputy Matthew Rodrigue with the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable's Office. "They're blessed to be here right now. Those waters are extremely fast right now up here, as well as all over the Houston area. Stay out of that water."

"It's moving faster than you can imagine," said Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack. "We could hear them yelling but that was about it."

The victims are all three adults. While they were cold and wet, they were otherwise unhurt.
