ROSENBERG, TX (KTRK) -- Authorities responded to a burglary alarm and caught a man attempting to cut through a pipe fence with a battery operated saw at Hlavinka Tractor in Rosenberg.

Officers arrived at the business around 4:30am and found Gregory Tinney, 48, in action. He attempted to flee on foot but was subdued with a conducted electrical weapon.

According to investigators, Tinney had in possession numerous hand tools which he had been using to commit the theft. Tinney had also apparently moved several pieces of motorized equipment towards the fence in preparation to load the equipment onto a trailer, police say. The trailer is suspected of being stolen as well.

Tinney was also in possession of an outboard boat motor which was discovered to have been stolen earlier from a business in El Campo.

The suspect was charged with theft, criminal mischief, evading, possession of criminal instruments and possession of stolen property. Tinney will be placed in custody at Fort Bend County Jail. No bond has yet been set for Tinney.
