The suspect is accused of stabbing another man at a party last night

PEARLAND, TX (KTRK) -- Neighbors had to shelter in place during a SWAT standoff this morning in Pearland. Police say a house party at Bluestone Edge Lane and Secret Falls Court, last night ended with a violent stabbing.

Sky Eye flew over the top of the scene, capturing images of Pearland Police blocking the street as the SWAT team surrounded the home. One officer was seen laying the ground, his weapon drawn. Officers circled the house to the backyard, surrounding it.

Suddenly, the attacker, Eric Guzman surrendered to police. With guns pointed directly at him, he came out with his hands up. Police handcuffed Guzman, then drove him off in a patrol car.

Neighbors were told to shelter in place and school buses were re-routed during the SWAT standoff.

"It can happen anywhere, it just goes to show. It's a little bit disturbing because it's close to home but you just gotta watch out. you never know," says Kelly Powell, a neighbor.

Guzman is now in jail, facing aggravated assault charges.
