The smash and grab burglars made off with $50,000 worth of frames from Eye Impact on Washington

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are looking for five burglars who smashed their way into the Eye Impact store in the Memorial area to steal high-end frames.

The store's owner, Dr. Gray Nguyen, lives above the store located off Washington and Asbury. He was asleep around 5:00 Wednesday morning when his dog started barking and the alarm was triggered.

Nguyen called 911 then went downstairs to investigate. He heard rustling in the shop and went back upstairs to wait for police.

Nguyen says the thieves were in and out of the store in less than 10 minutes and were gone by the time officers arrived.

Eye Impact owner Dr. Gary Nguyen talks about the smash & grab Wednesday morning where thieves stole up to $50,000 in high-end frames

Nguyen says the burglars made off with an estimated $50,000 worth of high-end frames.

Nguyen says eyeglass frames are easily sold on the internet because they have do not have serial numbers on them like other items do. As a result, its nearly impossible to prove the frames were stolen.
