Just before 2pm, the vehicle drove into Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet on Kirby Drive at La Concha. The SUV was slowly pulling into a handicap parking spot when the driver accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brakes. A number of patrons who were sitting at tables dove out of the way as the vehicle ran through the dining area, before coming to rest at the buffet service table.

"Can you tell us what happened? We want to make sure you're OK," we asked the driver.

"I just want to go hide somewhere," she replied.

Police say nine people were injured. All the victims were taken to a hospital. One man was pinned for a short time.

"Everyone was shouting and crying," said witness Asif Malik. "There were, like, eight to 10 people who got injured. Two people got injured pretty bad. One was my banker. He was injured pretty bad."

Damage to the restaurant is said to be significant.
