A man walking his dog discovered the body of a woman wrapped in a blanket

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A body has been discovered during Texas EquuSearch's effort to find a missing woman in northwest Harris County.

Officials say a man walking a dog found the body wrapped in a blanket near palm leaves off Concrete Drive. Texas EquuSearch volunteers were in the area looking for Blanca Pena, 43, who was reported missing Saturday.

Tim Miller with Texas EquuSearch says that while they body has not been identified, the Harris County Sheriff's Office has already notified Pena's family of the discovery because it matches her description.

"We went ahead and notified them that there had been a body found," said Sgt. Ben Beall. "We knew it would probably be on the news and we wanted to give them the opportunity to be prepared when they do hear."

Authorities say Pena was reported missing by her son when she failed to show up for work and couldn't be located. Deputies believed she could be in danger because of evidence found at the scene.
