HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police arrested a young woman they say included more than love notes in an envelope she sent to an inmate in the Harris County Jail.

Police say Ashley Schaffer, 19, used a fake return address to send a letter concealing marijuana to an inmate at the Harris County Jail in late August. She has been charged with bringing prohibited substances into a correctional facility.

Shaffer glued the substance between two pages in a 9-page handwritten letter intended for inmate Austin Garcia, according to court documents.

Police say an officer recognized the leafy substance as marijuana before giving the letter to Garcia. The officer submitted the letters for fingerprint examination, which led the police to Schaffer. The woman is now in jail without bond.
