Deputies said the driver of the motorcycle went straight through the intersection and landed with his bike in a ditch.

The man was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital downtown, but did not survive.

At night, the intersection is pretty dark, and the road ends as an entrance to a nearby park.

There is a fence leading into the park area, but the gate is not closed. This is the same gate the motorcyclist went through before the crash.

Eyewitness News photographer Scott Engle says this is an area where accidents regularly occur, and that a lack of signage may be to blame.

A wrecker driver told ABC13 there are as many as four or five wrecks here every week.
