Man charged in mom's fatal stabbing screams in Houston courtroom

A man accused of killing his mother appeared in court today. Miya Shay reports.

Clad in an orange jumpsuit, Blake Jefferson cried and heaved with emotion as he made his initial court appearance Monday morning.

The young man is accused of stabbing his own mother, Alief ISD Trustee Dedre' Jefferson, to death.

The son of an Alief ISD board member, Blake Jefferson, has now been charged with his mother's murder.



It was last Friday that 22-year-old Jefferson allegedly killed his own mother.

Today, more than a dozen family and friends showed up in court to support Jefferson.

As the judge read out information related to his bond, family members could be heard sobbing in their seats.

After the brief court appearance, Jefferson turned toward his supporters and patted his heart.

The friend of man accused of killing mother speaks out about the days leading up to Dedre Jefferson's death.


He then let out several loud cries that could be heard outside the court house. His bond is set at $50,000.

The family's hired attorney, would not comment on camera.

This evening, there is a vigil for Dedre' Jefferson at the Alief ISD building on Cook Road.
