Make It Right! program lets citizens clear up warrants
The Make It Right! event will allow residents to clear up outstanding Class C warrants with Harris County Precincts 1 and 6.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Residents with pending cases will have a chance to resolve their legal issues this weekend.

At the Make It Right! event, those with outstanding warrants for low-level, nonviolent misdemeanor offenses filed in Harris County Precincts 1 or 6 can clear up those pending cases.

Eligible charges include (but are not limited to) minor consuming or possessing alcohol, criminal mischief, failure to appear, drug paraphernalia, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and theft of less than $100. Traffic offenses and felonies are not eligible.

The general public can also solicit free legal advice from volunteer defense lawyers regarding landlord-tenant issues, immigration, child support and other issues.

"This is a great opportunity for thousands of people to resolve their outstanding warrants and make a new start. This event also benefits law enforcement agencies by allowing them to clear warrants without the expense and risks involved in arresting people on minor offenses," Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis said in a news release.

The event takes place from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Lakewood Church in Greenway Plaza.
