HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police are investigating three overnight shootings. HPD tells Eyewitness News that there are some similarities between these shootings, but caution that it's too early to tell if they are connected.

Man shot, killed while taking out the trash

The first shooting took place about 9pm Tuesday. Two men were taking out the trash when they were approached by three men who tried to rob them at a complex on Skyline called Hidden Pines. Juan Chamorro, just 22 years old, was shot to death and those attempted robbers escaped.

"They didn't bother anyone, they were doing something as simple as taking the trash out, that's something we do every day," said neighbor Autria Horn, who says she often waved at Chamorro as he left for work every morning.

Man walking home from McDonald's shot during robbery

About an hour later in northwest Houston, Valente Saldana came home to the apartment complex where he lived with his parents. Saldana had just gone to a nearby McDonald's. Police say two men approached him, they exchanged words, and one of the men fired several shots. At least one shot his Saldana, while others hit nearby windows.

"He said one of them punched him in the head while he was talking to the other one, and he tried to fight them," said mother Santa Saldana, who heard the gunshots from her bedroom. "He dropped his food, and the other guy said, 'Kill him kill him!'"

Valente Saldana is recovering in the hospital.

Man found shot at apartment complex

A third shooting happened in the early hours of Wednesday. A woman driving discovered a man shot in front of The Orchard at Garden Oaks Senior living apartments. He didn't have his ID on him, but he didn't appear homeless. EMS also took him to Memorial Hermann where, at last check, he is in critical condition.
