Film crew robbed in front of 'We love Houston' sign
A film production crew robbed at gunpoint at perhaps the most unexpected time. They were working on a video promoting our city as a great place to live and buy real estate.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston film crew was robbed by a man with a gun at one of Houston's most loving landmarks.

"I'm sort of naive to the crime that takes place in Houston," said native Houstonian and production business owner Zach Jankovic. "The idea of the video was to promote Houston."

Jankovic said on Wednesday as his crew was filming the "We <3 Houston" sign along I-10 near downtown Houston, a man in a red shirt approached his crew with a gun.

"He walked up to them and did one of these (gesturing his index finger to his lips) and then pulled out the gun of his pants and showed them the gun," said Jankovic.

Jankovic said his crew members backed away from the two cameras that were set up and rolling, along with a GoPro that was shooting behind the scenes snap shots. The robber took all three cameras and tripods and began running away. What he didn't know is that the GoPro camera he was stealing was able to snap a photo of his face before it dropped from his grip.

"For some reason he left the GoPro behind," said Jankovic. "If you are going to rob a camera crew, grab all of that media so that you are not able to be plastered all over the Internet."

And that's exactly what Jankovic did; he plastered the bad guys face all over Facebook, hoping it would go viral. Jankovic was able to recover two of his tripods but still lost about $15,000 in camera equipment. He said it won't break him. He said this thief has done even more damage to Houston's reputation when all he was trying to do was promote the Houston we all love.

If you recognize the suspects photo, call Houston Police.
