Double murder suspect arrested
The man suspected of killing a father and his teenage son in northwest Houston over the weekend is now in police custody

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An accused killer is now behind bars here in Houston. Danny Neelys is accused of murdering his brother-in-law and nephew, but now we've learned they weren't his original targets.

Neelys, 39, is charged with capital murder. He was arrested in Mexico earlier this week and arrived back in southeast Houston for processing today at around 2am. He was supposed to be in probable cause court after being on the run for days

He is a suspect in the murders of two people -- one identified as his brother in-law and the other, his nephew.

According to officials, on Saturday, November 15, a father and his son were found dead in the 12000 block of Atwood Grove Lane in the Northwest Park Colony subdivision.

They believe Neelys forced his way into the victims' home at gunpoint looking for his estranged wife. When he didn't find her, he shot and killed 15-year-old Keidric Jelks, Jr., and his father, 42-year-old Keidric Jelks, Sr.

Neelys allegedly then sexually assaulted his brother-in-law's wife. He is now charged with two counts of capital murder.

Neelys was found in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, by Mexican federal agents around 10:44am Monday. Now he sits in Houston, in the custody of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
