HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There won't be any resolution today on transportation services Uber and Lyft. The issue was tabled again at Houston City Hall.
Earlier, cabbies and their supporters sported bright yellow shirts once again at city hall. They showed up in opposition to Uber and Lyft.
The taxi cab drivers told Eyewitness News their demand is simple. They want everyone to play by the same rules.
In the past few months, popularity for Uber and Lyft have exploded in the Houston area. The two services accessible via apps on people's smartphones allow users to request rides around town.
Drivers, using their own personal cars and vetted by the companies, show up after being requested. Payment is cashless, charged through the apps.
Cab companies want Uber and Lyft to follow the same regulations imposed on them by the city. An ordinance establishing such laws was tabled last month, and then again today. Council will take it up again next week.
