A 6th grade girl claims that her teacher choked her in the classroom.

It's a phone call from her daughter that Shiquitha Quinn won't soon forget.

"She called me hysterical saying that the teacher had choked her," said Quinn.

Quinn's daughter, Taylor Carroll, is a 6th grader at McAuliffe Middle School.

Carroll said students near her were acting up during a test Monday morning, and that's when she says the teacher came over.

"She came over yelling and she snatched my chair from under me, and it made me trip. And she took my arm and pushed me against the table, and took both her hands and was shaking me and choking me," said Carroll.

Carroll claims she didn't hit back but did leave the room.

"I grabbed my backpack, I walked out of class. I went in the restroom. My neck was throbbing in pain and I called my mom," said Carroll.

Carroll's uncle, Randy Sample, also went to the school, concerned not just for his niece.

"If she put her hands on a child, then to me, all the other kids are in jeopardy," said Sample.

Fort Bend ISD confirmed its police are investigating an alleged incident and that the teacher was removed from class because of the nature of the allegation.

The district did not, at this point, provide details of the case because school district police are still gathering statements.

Eyewitness News reached the teacher for a brief phone conversation.

The teacher called the student's version of events an exaggeration.
