Drip spa offers IV treatment for ailments
An intravenous injection of vitamins and minerals is the latest trend in beauty and wellness.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Once only found in hospitals, the IV drip is the new fountain of youth and its no longer exclusive to celebrities on the red carpet inn in fashion shows in Hollywood.

Houston's elite are lining up for IV drips that deliver vitamins, minerals and amino acids to your body faster. Some Houston Texans and even the players from U of H's championship football team have spent time in the new lounge at ThrIVe Drip Spa in West Houston.

Client Lauren Varnado said she felt "Refreshed (and) energized" after the treatment.

Varnado is an attorney and a repeat client. This week, she tried the "party drip" which is a hangover cure.

"I do feel clarity of mind actually," said Varnado. "It has more of a mental effect I think."

The doctor behind drive used to work in the emergency room at Memorial Hermann Hospital and is an orthopedic surgeon.

"So, it's not just all about a quick fix, there are health benefits," said Dr. Gene Lou.

ThrIVe Drip Spa claims in 45 minutes or less, a treatment can hydrate your body from head to toe while delivering a hefty dose of vitamins, minerals and amino acids directly into your bloodstream. Some drip treatments also claim to give your immune system a boost.

However, the drip isn't for everyone. Doctors say, if you have any heart or lung issues you will be screened before going through a treatment just to be safe.
