HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Big names in entertainment are coming to Houston for a concert benefiting victims of our April floods. Rehearsals continued most of Thursday in preparation for Friday's big concert at Lakewood Church.

So far, scheduled to participate are Clay Walker, Brian McKnight, Regina Belle, Tim McGraw, Darius Rucker, Yolanda Adams, La Mafia's Oscar de la Rosa, Danny Gokey and CeCe Winans. Grammy-Award winning band La Mafia says they couldn't say no when asked to perform for their hometown fans.

"I'm proud to be a Houstonian, proud to be here," Oscar De La Rosa said.

The concert will raise money for the Greater Houston Storm Relief fund. The fund will help those in Harris, Ft. Bend and Montgomery counties who lost everything in the recent floods, from deposits on new apartments to car repairs.

"I would love to see people who are affected in the audience to take them away from their stress and their sorrow and have them let us wrap our healing arms around them," Houston Recovers producer Susan Christian said.

Watching the devastation of the floods, Oscar De La Rosa says he was heartbroken. He has lived most of his life here in Houston and now wants to help people rebuild their lives.

"It's different here. People care in different ways, really care for their neighbors what do you say about that? I think Houston is a great city and I've always said people that have never really visited this city are missing out, great place to be, great place to live," De La Rosa said.

Houston Recovers will be held Friday at Lakewood Church at 8pm. The event is free to the public, but organizers are encouraging people to contribute to the Greater Houston Storm Relief Fund at HoustonRecovers.org.

The concert will be broadcast live on abc13.
