HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you have driven down Westheimer in Montrose recently, you may have seen a new mural being created on the side of Numbers Night Club. It is being painted by local artist Rene Fernandez.

The mural includes several famous 80's and 90's alternative music artists faces or their band logos. Right now Fernandez has so far completed, from left to right on the wall, the Bauhaus logo, Peter Murphy, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Al Jourgensen of Ministry, Deborah Harry, Joey Ramone of the Ramones, David Bowie, Depeche Mode's logo, Ian Curtis of Joy Division, Morrissey, Siouxsie of Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Robert Smith of The Cure.

Fernandez says he was inspired by his own memories of bands that have played at Numbers. The artists adds that the walls of the club are a giant blank canvas in need of some love. Fernandez said he chose the artists he because he feels they laid the groundwork to influence so many artists today and they are important to the history of Numbers.

The owner of Numbers also says this mural is one of several improvements the club will be undergoing inside and out.
