Jennifer Jason Leigh's redefining role in 'Hateful Eight' results in Oscar nomination

The daughter of actor Vic Morrow and screenwriter Barbara Turner, Jennifer Jason Leigh was raised around the glitz and glamor of Hollywood. Leigh always knew she wanted to be an actor, even though she described herself as being shy and reserved.
"It was a means for me to come outside myself and to communicate and to express myself in a way that I can't naturally," Leigh said in a 1992 interview.
Although Leigh experienced longevity throughout her career, her acting opportunities began to diminish over time.
"I feel like the door was closed, and I had made my peace with it and I was fine," Leigh told The Guardian in January. "I just thought I had a great run and that's that."
Leigh considered focusing on writing and directing before she received the role of a lifetime as the foul-mouthed fugitive Daisy Domergue in Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight. The actress credits Tarantino for renewing her love of acting and giving her the role that led to an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
"This year has been so fulfilling and rewarding and reminded me again why I love acting," Leigh told Entertainment Weekly.
With her love of acting revitalized, Jennifer Jason Leigh's career has been redefined from consistent character actor to Oscar-nominated star.
