Investigation underway after body found in pond outside Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital: HPD

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police said a body was discovered in a retention pond outside a hospital in southeast Houston on Tuesday morning.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers received a call at about 9:55 a.m. about a person found in the pond by grounds crews outside Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, located in the 11000 block of Astoria Boulevard. HPD told ABC13 that the person was confirmed dead.

Authorities said they do not know the identity, age, or race of the victim at this time. Officials described the body as bloated but not decomposed.

HPD said its dive team and its homicide detectives responded to the scene, adding that more information is pending from the medical examiner.
