MANILA -- A tornado ripped through Manila, the capital of the Philippines, Sunday afternoon.
The country continues to experience extreme weather, with locals being caught off guard by the tornado, which are a rare occurrence in the Philippines.
Karen Madrigal captured the tornado with a timelapse video from her 39th floor apartment in the Binondo District in Manila.
The twister formed in the Port Area of Manila, and was brought about by a monsoon that had already hit the city.
The Philippine Red Cross said there were reports of damage caused by the tornado, such as downed trees and electricity being knocked out, but said there were no casualties.
Heavy rains were expected to continue in the Philippines into the middle of the week, according to officials.
