WYLIE, TX (KTRK) -- A big cleanup is ahead after North Texas got pummeled by a hail storm Monday evening.
Local station KTVT says the city of Wylie near Dallas was among the hardest-hit areas.
The National Weather Service said there were reports of nearly softball-sized hail.
Windows in cars and homes were destroyed.
Blue tarps are covering damaged roofs across the area.
The damage was so widespread, Wylie's school district canceled classes today.
The city's emergency management says calls to 911 during the storm overwhelmed the system. It was so bad, the agency tweeted that people should only call if it's a life-threatening emergency -- and urged patience.
