Emergency crews conduct more than 3,400 water rescues in Houston area

Water rescue operations underway all over Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Torrential rain from Tropical Storm Harvey has caused major widespread flooding in Houston and surrounding areas. So far, emergency crews have conducted more than 3,400 water rescues.

County and city officials are urging everyone not to climb into their attic but go onto their roof if they have high water in their homes.

According to Harris County Flood Control District Meteorologist Jeff Lindner, about 419 billion gallons of water have fallen in the area.
