SMYRNA, DE -- A truck transporting live chickens caught fire in Delaware Wednesday morning.
It happened at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday on Route 1 South near Exit 119 in Smyrna.
Images from Chopper 6 HD broadcast live on Action News at noon showed a large truck on the shoulder of the highway and several chickens outside the vehicle.
Reports indicated that the rear wheels of the vehicle caught fire.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Southbound traffic was diverted off Route 1 onto New Discovery Road as crews worked to clear the scene.
