1 dead in tanker truck fire that shut down main lanes on I-10 WB in Katy

KATY, Texas (KTRK) -- DPS says one person was killed Friday when a tanker truck crashed and caught fire along the Katy Freeway.

A tanker truck caught fire on the feeder, forcing the closure of the westbound main lanes near Cane Island Parkway. That's right in front of the Buc-ee's.

Crews from TxDOT's Houston district responded to the scene to help with the clean-up process. The main lane closures lasted for several hours.

Katy Police and DPS troopers worked the crash, but it wasn't immediately known what caused it.
