Overturned big rig carrying granite shuts down exit ramp
A huge mess on the West Loop this morning after a big rig carrying granite overturned

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Six hours after a big rig carrying granite overturned, the West Loop exit ramp onto Katy Freeway westbound has finally reopened.

Shattered and crushed granite was strewn across the roadway after the semi tipped over onto its side.

Investigators worked to figure out how the semi lost control before toppling over onto the ramp.

Fortunately, the driver was alright and walked away without injury.

The cab could be seen coming off of the top, however.

Drivers were forced to use the eastbound ramp on to I-10 eastbound as an alternate, driving all the way to Washington Avenue before making a U-turn.
