Chase ends in fiery crash
A driver running from police after running a stop sign crashed into a pickup truck

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A two-car collision shut down parts of Westheimer this morning and may leave commuters with one big headache.

Around 2am, an HPD officer was in the 6100 block of Westheimer when a Nissan Altima ran a stop sign. The officer chased after the vehicle, which had three people inside.

The fleeing car then slammed into a pickup at the intersection of Westheimer and Fountainview. The impact was so violent that it cause the pickup to spin and land on its side. The car came to a stop in the road.

An adult male and two juvenile females then got out of the Altima and took off on foot just before the car burst into flames. All three were quickly captured and arrested.

The adult male from the car is being charged with felony evading. The two juvenile females from the car face charges of evading on foot.

The male driver of the pick-up was not injured. Westheimer at Fountainview remains closed in both directions.
