Part of West Loop feeder road buckles
The feeder road on the northbound side of 610 at San Felipe buckled Wedensday afternoon, causing big delays

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There's a big traffic problem near the Galleria. Part of the feeder road along the West Loop northbound has buckled.

The problem is on the northbound lanes of the feeder road at San Felipe. The Texas Department of Transportation says the road buckled likely because of the heat mixed with all the recent rains. The road should be temporarily fixed by tomorrow morning rush hour.

Right now, if you are planning on traveling in that area, your best bet if you want to get to San Felipe is to stay on 610 and exit the Memorial/Post Oak exit and loop back around. Or you could take 59 to Chimney Rock and take that to San Felipe.

TxDOT says construction workers will have to do a full-depth repair Thursday evening, meaning they'll have to cut out existing concrete and replace the section of road.

Some people who frequent the area say they've noticed the road swelling in the past few days.

"I've noticed that there's been a rise in this road," said Candy Gilbert.
