A Magnolia food truck owner runs a carpool over 100 miles per day.

MAGNOLIA, TX (KTRK) -- We know a lot of you have a mega commute, but one up and coming Houston celebrity chef is taking it to a whole new level. You might recognize Shannen Tune from his appearance on Food Network. He is the first Houston winner of the popular show "Chopped."

This up and coming chef stays busy running his food Truck, Craftburger, in Magnolia. The truck specializes in gourmet burgers, handcut french-fries, onion rings and gourmet milkshakes.

Rather than put wear and tear on his massive gas-guzzling food truck, Shannen saves money by keeping it parked at a popular food truck yard, and running a carpool for his employees.

"I drive 50 miles each way. 60 whole minutes, not a minute less," Shannen said.

Carl, one of Shannen's employees, drives from Sugar Land to Shannen's home in Cinco Ranch, then they pick up Fred in Katy and head up north to Magnolia, six days a week.

"It's a little perk for them to get curbside service, I pick them up their house and it doesn't cost that much to get out here," Shannen explains.

It keeps two cars off the road and cuts down gasoline expenses by hundreds of dollars per week for his employees and his truck

"I'd have to put gas in it every day, so that's 60 dollars per day I'd have to put in this truck to get out here."
