A hole big enough to stand in opened up on the North Freeway giving at least 30 vehicles flat tires

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Crews have placed a temporary fix on a huge hole on the north Freeway that damages at least 30 vehicles late last night.

Just before midnight, the Harris County Sheriff's Office began receiving calls from motorists on the southbound lanes of I-45 just south of the Hardy Toll Road. Crews then found a large hole that's several feet wide, several feet long and deep enough for a person to stand in.

30 vehicles who hit the hole while driving at freeway speeds ended up with flat tires.

The company in charge of repairs on that part of the freeway has put in a temporary patch until they can make a permanent repair. There is no word on what that permanent repair will take place.
