HOUSTON -- All northbound lanes of the East Loop at McCarty have been shut down following a deadly accident involving a tanker truck in northeast Houston.

Houston police say the driver of an SUV rear-ended a tanker truck around noon and died at the scene. No chemicals spilled during the collision and there were no other reported injuries.

Traffic is being moved off the westbound North Loop at Wallisville, and there's a major traffic backup in the area.
