SAN RAMON, CA -- A big-rig loaded with nearly 45,000 pounds of frozen turkeys tipped over in San Ramon, CA this morning.

The turkeys are being transferred to a new truck that is not refrigerated, so they are expected to spoil.

"The driver originally was attempting to take the I-580 transition. He got confused, took the Alcosta Boulevard and was traveling at a higher rate of speed than would be normal for this particular ramp. It was dark and he wasn't familiar with the ramp. As he was coming around the curb, the rear trailer began to slide," said CHP Sgt. Joseph Azevedo.

There were two people in the cab who were trapped and rescued by firefighters. They have minor injuries and are expected to be okay.

There has been no impact to traffic on I-680. The off-ramp and a few lanes of San Ramon Boulevard are expected to be blocked until 10 a.m.
