New York Mets fans have had 15 years to save up to buy a World Series ticket, so hopefully they have a bunch of cash at the ready.
The average ticket sold at resale for the first two games against the Kansas City Royals at Citi Field -- Games 3 and 4 -- has fetched more than $1,000 apiece on StubHub.
The average sold price for those games on StubHub has been $1,115 and $1,077, respectively.
How significant is the four-figure average?
Only one game since the 2012 World Series had an average sold price of more than $1,000 on StubHub: Game 6 of the 2013 World Series. The Boston Red Sox game at Fenway against the St. Louis Cardinals had an average resale price of $1,169.
Averages in Kansas City this year are lower -- $723 for Game 1 and $749 for Game 2 -- partly because the fan base experienced four World Series home games last season, even though the Royals lost to the San Francisco Giants.
Game 1 last year at Kauffman Stadium had an average resale price of $840. Meanwhile, Game 7 tickets in Kansas City had an average price of $883.
The most money that has been spent on StubHub thus far for a single ticket to the 2015 World Series was a club seat for $15,000 for Game 4 at Citi Field.
