West U. LL takes down host Maine
The West University Little League seniors hope to bring home a title.

BANGOR, ME (KTRK) -- The West University Senior Little League squad is bringing a national title back home to Houston.

With a 7-4 win over a team from Curacao today, the West U. sluggers won the Senior Little League World Series in Bangor, Maine.

Today's win comes on the heels of yesterday's win over host Maine, 7-0. In that game. In that game, John Doxakis led the efforts from the mound, pitching a complete game shutout, allowing 2 hits and giving up 1 walk, while striking out 9.

The offense was powered by Jimmy Winston and William James, who combined for 5 hits. The bats came alive with a total of 11 hits by 9 different WU players, including 4 doubles and one triple.

The team is made up of 15- and 16-year-olds who are playing in the Senior League World Series in Bangor, ME. Today they are playing in the championship game (leading 7-1 in the 6th inning against Curacao, the only team to beat them so far.
