Clear Springs' depth in the offensive and defensive line should be its strength.

There may be a lot of uncertainties about the 2014 Clear Springs football team prior to District 22-6A play, but one of them isn't likely to be the quality of the squad.

The Chargers have had to revamp and retool throughout the spring and summer, but second-year head coach Frank Maldonado is encouraged about the momentum his staff and players can build from last year's playoff team.

"I'm never satisfied," Maldonado said. "I think that precision in everything we do can be improved on a daily basis.

"That's what we strive to do. We've done a good job picking up a new offense. Now that we know what to do, we move forward."

Dawson running backs coach Wade Oliphant has been hired as Springs' new offensive coordinator while Shane Deel is in his second year spearheading the Charger defense.
