The viewing public will get its first look at scholastic football teams when several schools in the Examiner coverage area have their first scrimmage of the still-young season this Friday or Saturday.

The four days of pads, t-shirts, and helmets are behind them and everyone has been in full pads for just over a week, but now the coaches begin separating the football players from the guys who signed up to play football.

Six private schools, along with Lamar, will all be busy this weekend looking at theirs against someone else's for the first time this season. All put on the full uniform last Friday for the first time since last November and then each of them held an intrasquad workout Saturday to get their players on film in game situations for their review.
