Seattle Sounders acquire Will Bruin from Houston Dynamo

SEATTLE -- The MLS champion Seattle Sounders continued to restock for the 2017 season by acquiring forward Will Bruin from the Houston Dynamo on Friday in exchange for general and targeted allocation money.

The trade is the second deal Seattle has completed this week. The Sounders also traded for midfielder Harry Shipp from Montreal.

Bruin, 27, has spent his entire six-year MLS career with the Dynamo, where he recorded 50 goals and 20 assists. He had double-digit goals in 2012 (12), 2014 (10) and 2015 (11).

He appeared in 31 MLS matches last season for the Dynamo, but was limited to four goals and three assists and had just one goal after the first month of the season.

"Will is a known commodity as a consistent goal-scorer that we believe can immediately bolster our attack," Sounders general manager Garth Lagerwey said in a statement. "Coupled with yesterday's acquisition of Harry Shipp, we're excited about the impact that these two young and proven players can bring next season."

Bruin is expected to fill the role of Nelson Valdez, who is unlikely to return after his contract option was not picked up.

Shortly after Bruin's departure, the Dynamo announced the signing of Honduras international forward Romell Quioto from Olimpia.

Quioto, 25, has scored 36 goals in 78 appearances over three seasons for the Honduran club, and has earned 27 caps with the national team.

"We are pleased to secure the transfer of Romell Quioto to the Houston Dynamo. He is a player who is in the prime of his career and a constant threat to opposing defenses," Dynamo general manager Matt Jordan said in a statement.

"We've added one of the top attacking talents in CONCACAF and a player whose speed, athleticism, and ability to score goals will be a welcomed addition to our attack as we build towards the 2017 season."

Quioto is the third player signed by Houston this week, following another Honduran forward,Alberth Elis, Panamanian defender Adolfo Machad, while the team also selected former LA Galaxy center-back Leonardo in the MLS Re-Entry draft.
