ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Wide receiver Sammy Watkinswas on crutches outside the Buffalo Bills' locker room after he suffered an ankle injury late in the first half of Sunday's 34-21 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Watkins fell in the end zone before making a 22-yard touchdown catch with less a minute remaining in the second quarter. He remained on the ground as his teammates simultaneously celebrated and called for trainers.
After trying to walk to the sideline, Watkins went back to the ground as trainers arrived. He later walked to the locker room under his own power but with a noticeable limp.
Watkins was playing in his first game since suffering a calf injury Sept. 27.
After telling The Buffalo News last week that he was frustrated with his role in the Bills' offense and wanted at least 10 targets per game, Watkins was targeted five times Sunday and finished with four catches for 48 yards and the touchdown before leaving the game.
